Your KoalaCloth is designed to be streak-free with just water. So if you're still seeing streaks, one of five common culprits is almost always to blame.
The golden rule, in one sentence...
Streaks come from residue left behind — either on the surface, or on the cloth itself — so a clean cloth, a dry finish, and nothing but water will always give you a streak-free result.
The 5 most common causes (and the fix for each):
1. A wet or saturated cloth. Once the cloth fills with water, it drags moisture around instead of lifting it. Always finish with a dry cloth.
2. Fabric softener. The big one. Softener coats the microfibres like a raincoat, and the residue ends up on your glass. Wash the cloth twice with just detergent to strip it out.
3. Old spray residue. Window sprays leave an invisible film your cloth just smears around. One thorough clean with warm water resets the surface — then water alone keeps it perfect.
4. A cloth overdue for a wash. Filled up microfibres start giving grime back. Rinse after each use and machine wash regularly (40°C max, no bleach, no tumble dryer).
5. Direct sunlight. On hot glass, water evaporates before you can wipe it, leaving mineral marks. Clean in the shade and dry each section as you go.
Common Questions
Q1) I fixed all five and still see faint streaks — why?
Check what's on the glass, not the cloth. Years of spray buildup, hard-water film or tint coatings can need two or three water-only cleans before you reach a true baseline. It gets easier every time.
Q2) Can I use a little detergent for extra grime?
You don't need to — the microfibre structure lifts grime mechanically. Any soap left on the surface is just future streaks waiting for sunlight. Warm water and a bit more pressure beats any spray.
Q3) How wet should the first cloth be?
Slightly damp, not dripping. Wring it out well — the less water you put on the surface, the less your dry cloth has to pick up, and the cleaner the finish.
Q4) My cloth used to be streak-free but isn't anymore — is it worn out?
Almost certainly not. A KoalaCloth lasts 300+ washes. It's nearly always softener buildup or trapped residue — do the double detergent wash from cause #2 and it should be as good as new.
